How to use VPN.free
VPN.free opens websites for you from one of our servers, right in your browser. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
- Type a website, or words to search for
- Press Go
- Browse. Sites see our server, not you
What you can do
Move around while you browse
The bar at the top has Back, Forward and Refresh, an address box for going somewhere new, and an X that takes you back home.
Choose where you browse from
Auto picks a fast server. Pick a city yourself if a site shows the wrong country or loads slowly. Sites see that city, not yours.
Go back to where you came from
Followed a link here from another site? A Continue to button under Go opens that site through VPN.free.
Keep it on your home screen
Tap Add when VPN.free offers it. On an iPhone, open it in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Report a site that breaks
Tap Report a bug in the top bar. Reports are posted publicly on our forum, so leave out personal details.
Language and cookies
Change the language at the bottom of any page. If we asked about cookies, Cookie choices lets you change your answer.
Send someone a site
A VPN.free link can open a particular site for the person you send it to. Put the site after #go= at the end of the address:
https://vpn.free/#go=example.com
How shared links stay safe
- Nothing opens by itself. The person you send it to sees the site's name first and chooses whether to open it.
- Every site is checked against malware and phishing lists first. A site on those lists is not opened.
- A link that goes straight to a file download, such as an app installer, is not opened.
- Links that hide a password in the address, or that are not ordinary web addresses, are refused.
If something does not work
I opened VPN.free from Instagram, Facebook or TikTok
Browsers built into apps block a feature VPN.free needs. Open the page in Chrome or Safari instead: use the app's menu and choose Open in browser.
It does not start in a private window
Private and incognito windows, and strict tracking protection, can block the same feature. Use a normal window, or allow vpn.free.
For technical users: VPN.free runs inside your browser as a service worker. It fetches each page through our servers and rewrites the page's links and scripts so they keep going through VPN.free. Private modes, strict tracking protection and the browsers built into apps often turn service workers off or wipe their storage, and without one there is nothing to route the page through.
It says it could not connect me
Try again, or choose another server. It usually works on the second try.
One site keeps failing
Try another server location. If it still fails, tap Report a bug so we can look at it.
